This is some concept packaging I made for a hypothetical special edition beer release based on the playing card deck Modern Times released in collaboration with Art of Play.
MATCHING AN EXISTING DESIGN STYLE
My attempt here was to assimilate to an existing design style established in the playing cards. To do this I recreated all of the shapes used on the King of Spades as letters in my design language. I could then use these basic elements to create new compositions for the beer can packaging.
ITERATIVE PROCESS
Iterating through ideas lets me explore multiple concepts and evaluate the success of certain elements. I can compare iterations and consider balance, composition, typography, and consolidate the successes into a final design.
COMMUNICATING DESIGN
I think selling the design can sometimes be equally as important as the design itself. My written, verbal, and visual communication skills help me in being able to explain the design choices I’ve made and why.
